What Kompas does

Kompas ("we", "our") is an Outlook add-in that helps you write emails in your personal writing style. To do this, Kompas reads a limited number of your sent emails to analyze your writing patterns.

What data we access

When you connect your Microsoft 365 account and use Kompas, we access the following data through the Microsoft Graph API:

Your display name and email address (to identify your account). Your most recent sent emails (up to 50 by default, configurable) for one-time style analysis. The conversation thread of emails you are replying to (up to 5 messages) when using reply mode. Your inbox messages (up to 10) for the email list view.

How we use your data

Kompas reads email content through Microsoft Graph to analyse your writing style and generate drafts. AI requests can include sent-email samples, your instructions, writing-style profile and custom rules, and relevant conversation content, including sender, date and subject. Original email messages are not stored as a message archive in this application flow.

Kompas stores the extracted style profile and custom rules, and can store an HTML signature detected in sent emails or supplied through Outlook or Settings. A saved signature may contain names, contact details and other text from an email. This description of the application flow is not a guarantee about model-server or proxy logs, backups or other infrastructure.

Data storage

Kompas stores account and organisation information, writing-style profiles and rules, saved signatures, interface preferences, and usage records in PostgreSQL. Stored records also include trial activation and usage, applicable subscription and access-entitlement information, security and administrative audit events, and feedback you submit. Server-side sign-in sessions include a Microsoft access token and an expiry time. The add-in session lifetime is configurable; session expiry does not delete your account or other stored data. The add-in also uses a session cookie, Microsoft sign-in browser storage, and locally stored account email information.

Third-party services

Kompas uses Microsoft Graph to access your account and email information with your authorisation.

Kompas sends relevant email content and instructions to the AI backend to analyze your writing style and generate drafts. Privacy Policy
